FOX News’ Major Garrett loves conspiracies

So FOX News’ Major Garrett (yes, that’s his actual name) grilled White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs today about that controversial Axelrod spam e-mail.

Garrett — that sly rascal — asked Giibbs how and why citizens who’d never solicited information from the White House were receiving Axelrod’s e-mail, meanwhile trying to imply to imply that Obama must obviously be compiling some kind of enemies list.

Gawker’s John Cook has my clip and his commentary here.

Robot (yes, robot) VS Volkswagon beetle

Weird story out of Los Angeles today…

A police stand-off in Westwood, Calif. has pitched an armored truck, the U.S. Secret Service, Homeland Security, FBI, and an LAPD bomb squad robot against a red Volkswagon beetle.

It’s been going on all day long (like, seriously, since at least 12 pm, EST). Apparently this began as a police chase over some kind of traffic infraction, but they’re now after this guy for making threats to blow up the White House.

Wow, over 17,000 pageviews so far, making this the sixth most popular item on Gizmodo today (and three of the top five were posted between 12 a.m. and 3 a.m. this morning, so I’m counting them as “last night’s posts” to further stroke my ego)

Anyway, Conan O’Brien gave a little shoutout to the Clippy, the Office Assistant from MS Word, and his response to Monday’s court injunction that has temporarily prohibited Microsoft from selling copies of Word.

Gizmodo’s Sean Fallon has the clip, edited and pitched by yours truly, here.

Poor Clippy. :(

Gun-toting crazies on the loose

A couple of interesting clips during today’s Townhall-a-Thon.

Specifically, I’m talking about William Kostric, the gun-wielding protester who MSNBC found demonstrating outside the venue for today’s town hall meeting with Obama in New Hampshire.

First up, the clip of MSNBC breaking the story.

Followed by a this snippet of Kostric’s appearance on Hardball, where Chris Matthews basically reams him out for being stupid enough to greet a sitting president with a loaded firearm.

My favorite part of the Kostric interview has to be when Matthews asks if the gun was loaded, and Kostric responds as if Chris is the crazy one. Dude, you brought a LOADED GUN to a PRESIDENTIAL EVENT.

Even MSNBC won’t let Donny Deutsch forget he’s a douche

At the end of today’s MSNBC News Live, Tamron Hall gave fill-in co-anchor (and honorary Gawker Douchebag) Donny Deutsch a bit of a hard time over that infamous speedo photo of his.

Deutsch protests at first, arguing that it’s a 25 year old photo, until insisting Tamron “loves it.”

Yeah, keep telling yourself that, Donny.
