My name is Sergio Hernandez.

I am a freelance reporter in New York City.

Sometimes I'm also a web designer and amateur photographer, but usually I just write about things like media, politics, film, music, TV, theater, technology, crime, law, food, travel, and pop culture. And anything else that might occur to me. (Or pays.)

Portfolio | Washington Square News

From 2006-2009, I worked for NYU’s student newspaper, the Washington Square News. I joined WSN as a college freshman as a staff writer, covering higher education and university governance.

In 2007, I was promoted to Assistant News Editor. During that time, I covered the Hakan Yalincak ponzi scheme scandal and assisted the desk editors in running the paper’s news department.

In September 2007, I was WSN’s inaugural University News Editor, and was responsible for training and managing a staff of reporters, editing stories, and guiding the paper’s news coverage.
