About
I am a Manhattan-based freelance journalist.
I most recently spent a year interning at Gawker Media, an online media company that publishes such blog titles as Gawker, Defamer, Valleywag, Gizmodo, Jezebel, Lifehacker, Deadspin, io9, Kotaku, Jalopnik, and Fleshbot.
From July-December 2009, I interned in Gawker’s video department (which later became Gawker.TV) and was responsible for finding, pitching, and editing video clips and projects for our network of blogs.
In January 2010, I became an editorial intern for Gawker.com, where I worked primarily with the site’s investigative/national affairs reporter, John Cook. There, I was responsible for helping Cook with original reporting, including public records requests, database searches, research, interviews, and reviewing documents.
In 2009, I was a guest panelist on Earshot, WNYU 89.1 FM’s weekly current events program, and became a community moderator for Neighborhoodr, a reader-generated community blog network for New York City.
Originally from Los Angeles, Calif., I moved to New York City in 2006 to study journalism and psychology at New York University’s College of Arts and Science.
While at N.Y.U., I’ve spent three years at the Washington Square News, N.Y.U.’s daily student newspaper, where I’ve served as a contributing writer, staff writer, senior staff writer, assistant news editor, and news editor.
At W.S.N., I’ve reported on topics such as politics, crime, higher education, economics, medicine, science, technology, government, law, LGBT issues, and city/local news. During my tenure as news editor, I was also responsible for directing and managing the newspaper’s daily coverage of local university news.
My other interests include media, film, music, television, food, cooking, fitness, and pop culture.
In addition to journalism, I’m also completing a major in psychology (with particular interests in abnormal psychology, psychopathology, forensic psychology, and child psychology) and a minor in law and society.
